The Right to Water and Water Rights in a Changing World
- Colloquium in the framework of 30 years University for Peace Delft
The topic is very timely: in the face of global changes, what role can law play in safeguarding basic needs and rights, including that of water? Can law be more effectively mobilized to better protect vulnerable communities against droughts, floods and other climate related disasters? In so doing, to what extend can it contribute to world peace? As laws tend to be rigid, how can they play a more progressive role in a rapidly changing world? Currently water management is stepping away from the idea of stationarity – but what about legal issues? Are they set in stone?

Photovoltaics Quality Briefing
Royal Institute of British Architects,London
The global solar business is developing rapidly. As new markets open up - such as in the UK - both long-established brands and new businesses are offering their technology and products. Encouraged by incentives such as long-term feed-in tariffs private individuals and enterprises are confidently making substantial investments in photovoltaic installations. But is their confidence misplaced? Some investors have certainly had a rude awakening when they have discovered that poor decisions when selecting equipment mean their investments have lost value after just a few years. If lack of information and transparency at the purchasing stage means that poor quality modules are chosen, then heavy losses can result. And the malfunctioning of a single component can lead to the failure of an entire PV system. However, by understanding the issues and knowing what to look out for, all stakeholders can ensure that potential problems of this kind are avoided. Join this conference to ensure the performance of your PV project and safeguard your capital investment. The number of participants is limited. Ensure your participation, register today.

Climate Negotiations in Cancún: Determinants for Change
Taipei
The seminar “Climate Negotiations in Cancún: Determinants for Change” is organised jointly by the French institute for international relations in Paris (Ifri) and the Environmental Protection Bureau of Taipei County. Its objective is to try and outline the tendencies, processes or determinants that could affect climate negotiations between COP 15, in Copenhagen, and the upcoming conference in Cancún, and possibly alter its results: the increasing and increasingly visible impacts of climate change, the rise of new leaders or coalitions in the negotiations, and the development of alternative and possible competitive forums of governance. Such reflections will provide the working ground on which to develop prospective analyses on the upcoming negotiations.

International Conference on Green Energy & Exhibition
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
Energy has emerged as a major challenge for the world. The fact that energy is the most pervasive factor in global sustainability is no longer debatable. There is growing concern not only over whether the world will have sufficient energy to power life, but also over the impact of the many sources of energy on life itself. We talk here about the depletion of fossil fuel which currently accounts for the bulk of the world's energy source. We have initiated programs to explore alternatives. These include solar, wind, biomass, geothermal, ocean etc. It is an opportunity not to be missed by policy makers, scientists, businessmen, industry, government, NGOs and those who have interest to know more about the possible business and career opportunities in Green Energy.
