This conference builds on the activities and themes of the 3-year project "SUPPORT: Partnership and participation for a sustainable tomorrow", funded via EU's Lifelong Learning Programme. The conference will focus on how to reorient the education system for Education for Sustainable Development (ESD). There will be keynotes by leading experts in the fields of ESD and competencies needed for the future. There will also be thematic sessions to explore various ESD-related themes (like Teacher competencies for ESD, School - community collaboration in ESD, ICT tools as ESD support for schools and Schools as learning organizations for ESD) and task force sessions to develop messages and priorities for various key actors in ESD (policy makers, School leaders, Teacher trainers, Researchers, Teachers...). The conference format is designed to capture conference participants' experiences in implementing ESD.

The Annual International Conference of the Centre for Social and Environmental Accounting Research (CSEAR) will, in 2010, be held in partnership with the Environmental and Sustainability Management Accounting Network (EMAN). The conference, based as usual at the University of St Andrews in Scotland, is a gathering of academics, practitioners and researchers who focus on the teaching, research, theory and practice of social, environmental and sustainability accounting and reporting. 

This seminar will explore the continuing challenges in the wide-scale commercial development of Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) in the UK and internationally. Planned sessions will explore the questions that remain over the viability of the technology itself, the progress that has been made on design, the practicalities and cost of roll-out and the overall ability of CCS to remove carbon from the atmosphere.
