How to Request Inspection Copies

Assess our books before you adopt them for your academic and professional courses

About Earthscan’s inspection copy service

You can order up to three books that you feel might be suitable for the course/s you teach. You can choose to request either print or digital inspection copies.

DIGITAL

How the digital inspection copy service works:

  • Click on the DIGITAL button above and submit your requests. (Search by title, subject, author, or ISBN for the title that you are interested in.)
  • If your request is approved (this may take up to two weeks), we will email you directions for logging in to your bookshelf. The free review period gives you 60 days of online access to your books, allowing you to read, search and annotate the entire text online.
  • After 60 days you will be prompted to extend your access period for another 60 days, or simply allow access to expire – there are no hard copies to return!
  • When the access period has expired you will receive an automated email, with useful links for taking the next steps including how to submit feedback about the book, how to inform us you have adopted it, and purchase options for personal use. There will also be an email template for recommending purchase of the book to your library or bookshop.

Only books for which we have full electronic rights are available as digital inspection copies. If the book you are looking for is not available on the digital requests site, you will be directed to the print inspection copy form below.

PRINT

How the print inspection copy service works:

  • Click on the PRINT button above and submit your requests using the form provided.
  • If your request is approved (this may take up to two weeks), the book/s will be sent to you by our distributor along with a 60 day inspection copy invoice.
  • If, after 60 days, you decide to adopt the book, please notify us by returning the questionnaire that came with the book. Receipt of the questionnaire results in a cancellation of your inspection copy invoice and you can then keep the book with our compliments.
  • If you decide not to adopt, please either return the book in good condition along with the questionnaire, or purchase the book by sending back your payment details.

TERRITORIAL AND PRICE RESTRICTIONS

1) We will not be able to supply a textbook if we if we don’t have territorial rights for that book in your country. You’ll find territorial rights info on each book’s Earthscan webpage, above the price, so please check first before you make your request, to avoid delays or disappointment.

2) We normally limit the price of books available on inspection to £45 / $70. You may request any Earthscan book in that price range if you are considering it for an academic or professional course, where multiple sales are likely. If you plan to buy multiple copies of a high-priced title for a professional course please email coursetexts@earthscan.co.uk.
