Climate Policy was greatly saddened to learn of the passing of Stephen Schneider, who died of a heart attack on July 19. Stephen was one of the best known and most respected climate scientists in the world. Devoted to working at the science-policy interface and committed to the responsibility of communicating climate science, he was a valued founding member of our Editorial Board - a particularly generous role, since he had spent previous decades building up his own superb journal Climatic Change. I still recall Stephen's response at the first Climate Policy Editorial Board meeting: going round the table after I asked each member for their most succinct advice, he just said: "Quality, Quality and Quality" - a goal to which we have aspired ever since. Our condolences go to his family, friends and colleagues around the world; he will be sorely missed.
