Earthcast series off to a flying start

by Earthscan News 20. August 2009 05:04

Yesterday at 5.00pm (GMT+1) Earthscan’s first Earthcast hit the internet airwaves, and by all accounts it was a great success. Just a few attendees shy of reaching our 500 registrations limit, there was a faint air of nervousness in the Earthcast recording studio as the minutes counted down and weeks of hard work finally came to a climactic, breath-holding 3, 2, 1…

And then we were away. The dulcet tones of Earthscan’s very own Dan Harding introduced the Earthcast series and our speakers, the presentations began and after just over an hour of four speakers, almost 50 PowerPoint slides, 4 polls and a live question and answer session, we wrapped it up and all breathed a huge collective sigh of relief. We’d done it. And it all went according to plan!

Of course, there’s always room for improvement, and we certainly won’t be resting on our laurels just yet (we already have another Earthcast lined up for 30th September) so we’re seeing this very much as having taken the first steps in something new, valuable, and genuinely exhilarating for us, our authors and of course our Earthscan community.

If you missed it you can watch a recording of the whole event by visiting our Earthcasts page www.earthscan.co.uk/earthcasts to access the archived version.

And while you’re there, don’t forget to sign up to next month’s event
Sustainable Business Practice: Process and Implementation. It’s going to be unmissable for anyone concerned with sustainability in business.
