Equality, Prosperity and Growth: Where do we stand?

by Earthscan News 16. February 2010 04:49

Thursday 4 March 6-8pm, Quaker Centre

Friends House, 173 Euston Rd, London NW1 2BJ

Tim Jackson’s Prosperity Without Growth argues that the ecosystems that sustain our economies are collapsing under the impact of rising consumption and that we must devise a path to prosperity that doesn’t rely on continued economic growth.

In The Spirit Level: Why more equal societies almost always do better Richard Wilkinson and Kate Pickett argue that it’s not just the poor who suffer from inequality, but the whole of society.

Kate and Tim will talk about the issues and evidence presented in their respective books in a discussion facilitated by Susan Seymour. They will be available after the event for discussion and book signings.

6pm in the Quaker Centre Café for a 6.30pm start.

Registration is free, but essential, at:  www.quaker.org.uk/prosperity
