Germany lays out path to 100% renewable economy

by Mike Fell 8. April 2009 05:55

Germany, already a world leader in installed renewable energy capacity, has announced its strategy for becoming 100% reliant on renewables by 2050 (as reported by Renewable Energy World). The ambitious target will be achieved, according to the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, through a combination of growth in installed renewable capacity, efficiency improvements, and in due course by integration of solar energy from north Africa via a Europe-wide smart grid.

If this is a subject you’re interested in, we have a book coming out later in the year looking at how individuals, towns, regions and countries can move towards total reliance on renewables – 100 Per Cent Renewable: Energy Autonomy in Action edited by Peter Droege.
