Unanimously selected from among over 90 nominations, Resources for the Future was named a co-recipient of the FEEM 20th Anniversary Prize in Environmental Economics on June 30, 2010, at the Fourth World Congress of Environmental and Resource Economists in Montreal, Canada.
The prize, carrying a monetary reward of 10,000 Euros, was established to celebrate the 20th anniversary of FEEM’s foundation, with the aim to reward a researcher or a group of researchers from anywhere in the world who have most significantly contributed to the development of the field of environmental and resource economics over the last 20 years. Noting its history as the pre-eminent research institution devoted exclusively to environmental issues, the judges praised RFF as having "pioneered the application of economics as a tool to develop more effective policy about the use and conservation of natural resources."
