Tweeters support new Earthcast series

by Andrew Miller 8. August 2009 07:43
It seems that there’s been a lot of tweeting about our new Earthscan Earthcasts series. We’ve just had an email from Adam Vaughn of guardian.co.uk/environment saying he’s tweeted it, as have GreenEcoVoice, EcoEngineering, Enviralment and GreenEnergyNews to name a few.

It’s great to see particularly the green sector getting behind us, and along with some familiar faces it’s been fascinating coming across new organizations that we haven’t previously been in contact with.

I suppose that’s the best thing about Twitter – that fact that it’s so easy to come across new organizations and people who share your interests, and spread the word about exciting new things at a lightning pace across the globe, makes it, potentially, an enormously important tool for the environmental movement.

I guess the big challenge is being able to mobilize in a serious way, and of course choose something for everyone to get behind… I’ll leave that one for another blog post I think.

In the mean time, here’s a really good resource listing all the ‘Environmental Twitter users’, and a fascinating (though not strictly sustainability-related!) article on Twitter being used as a tool for social change in China.

It certainly seems to be dominating the social networking headlines at the moment, and who knows - maybe one day Twitter could help save the world.
